This course provides security professionals with foundational knowledge in identifying, analysing, and managing security risks, understanding security operational requirements, and comprehending the standards and legislation applicable to security consultants in New Zealand.

Key Features of the SCCC Course
- Recognition: Accepted by the Private Security Personnel Licensing Authority (PSPLA) as evidence of completing the training required for a Security Consultant license. Upon successful completion and meeting other requirements, learners can apply to the PSPLA for a Security Consultant License.
- Role of Security Consultants: Professionals equipped to manage security risks and operational needs, providing advice or selling security systems such as burglar alarms, warning devices, special locks, cameras, and guarding services.

Learning Outcomes
Learners who complete this course will be able to:
- Identify the vulnerabilities and threats to premises in terms of the security industry.
- Analyse and prioritise threats to premises as risk, by their consequence and likelihood.
- Describe and assess the security threats and the risks they pose to a property and its stakeholders, identify the success criteria and potential solutions.
- Detail solutions to address the threats and their associated risks. Describe each solution in terms of its functions, concerns, integration with other security arrangements, operator interfaces, risk analysis, performance requirements and other applicable considerations, to help stakeholders select security solutions.
- Identify and/or describe the core elements of the standards and laws that apply to the work of security consultants in New Zealand.
Mode of Delivery
Online learning – Delivered through three online modules with corresponding assignments. Assignments are provided sequentially, requiring completion of one before proceeding to the next.
Ongoing support is available from tutors via email, text, phone calls, or other suitable means.
Entry Requirements
There are no formal requirements to enrol in this course, but candidates must:

- Be working in the security sector
- Be a citizen or permanent resident of New Zealand, or an Australian citizen or permanent resident residing in New Zealand
- Be able to speak and understand English
- Have basic computer skills to complete an online course
Admission may be granted on a case-by-case basis at the discretion of the Director of Stratcom Security.
